Fistful of Mercy

Good music speaks for itself….here is some good new music, i’ll let it speak now

Ben Harper is a musical genius…his body of work is captured in several band iterations from Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals to Ben Harper and The Relentless 7…to his solo work.  This latest project is definitely up to par.  Can’t wait to hear the whole album.  I love the imagery that my mind paints with the band name phrase “Fistful of Mercy,” very cool!

Breathe in & Smile Out,

When you google the word stretch for images, the masterminds at the web giant come up with about 100,000 results in .23 seconds.  That in itself is mind boggling…but not the point of this post.  When I think of stretch, the first image that comes to mind (and apparently ranks high in the search landing in the first 28) is this little dude.

They still sell him, although I suspect he hit the peak sales season back in the day when this was the cool thing to have! Again, not the point of this post…but just some visuals to the message.  I’m in a season of stretching.  As God would have it, not just in my work, home, or play….but in my spiritual life.  I have been under an unusual amount of attacks from the enemy who would want nothing else but to stretch me apart…defying even what Mr. Armstrong could withstand here.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. ~ James 1:2-4

I love these verses from James.  Because it re-assures me of a couple of truths that are hard to see and feel in the midst of the “stretch.”  When you’re being stretched it’s easy to focus on the conditions, the environment, event the attacker who is trying to pull you apart.  But, from God’s perspective it is testing our faith to develop perseverance.  To grow us into the mature and complete person He has purposed for the next season.  So we won’t lack anything!  It’s a faith that involves daily trusting God to do what we can’t see or do in own strength.  We aren’t called to do anything but have faith and not lose the joy and hope He has birthed in us.

I don’t know what you’re facing today, this week, or this month.  I do know the enemy wants to steal everything God has planned.  The enemy wants to stretch you until that is all you can think about.  Remember these truths and know that God’s plan is to grow you.  To strengthen you.   To prepare you, and make sure you lack nothing.  Today make that stretch count for God, and don’t let the enemy take control.
